Brand New
Prior to the formation of Brand New, frontman Jesse Lacey was a founding member of Taking Back Sunday, but he left the group before it had released any material.
∙ Emerging from Long Island’s crowded punk and emo scene, Brand New first came together in 2000, following the split of post-hardcore band The Rookie Lot.
∙ The band’s 2003 breakthrough album, Deja Entendu, was largely written by Lacey on an acoustic guitar in his bedroom.
∙ Following the success of Deja Entendu, Brand New were the subject of a major-label bidding war and eventually signed with Dreamworks.
∙ In 2015, they released Leaked Demos 2006, a collection of unfinished tracks from their The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me sessions that had previously been posted online without their permission.
∙ Beginning with Deja Entendu, every Brand New album has made the Billboard 200 chart, but 2017’s Science Fiction marked the first time the group reached No.1.
